Could a setting redirect let unprivileged code take over Meta’s Muse assistant?

TECHNOLOGY & SOFTWARENEEDS REVIEWUpdated:

A report says a locally run app or terminal command could change where Meta’s Muse AI assistant sends speech for transcription. By redirecting that endpoint to an attacker-controlled server, the attacker could reportedly obtain the account token and use the assistant’s already granted access to services and device features.

Could a setting redirect let unprivileged code take over Meta’s Muse assistant?

Lower-privileged code may control the more privileged assistant

That is the strange reversal: the assistant is meant to carry out tasks on a user’s behalf, but the reported flaw could let less-privileged local code take over the highly privileged helper instead. The report says a ClickFix-style trick could be one route to triggering it.
