11 unpermitted car-tracking cameras in Florida reportedly have no clear owner

HUMAN & SOCIETYNEEDS REVIEWUpdated:

A report says that after St. Lucie County ordered Flock cameras removed from its roads, officials found 14 unpermitted cameras. Eleven reportedly had no clear owner; the sheriff’s office later claimed three of the devices but did not explain why permits had not been obtained.

Tracking cameras whose owners officials cannot trace

The unusual part is that cameras used to track passing vehicles may themselves be untraceable to local officials. Officials reportedly were also unsure whether the remaining cameras were actively collecting data. The county gave owners 30 days to remove them and said staff could cover or remove cameras still in place after the deadline.
