Google reportedly buys Spirit’s corporate data for AI use

Corporate data transferred through an auction

Business data from the collapsed airline Spirit reportedly passed to Google through an auction.

Spirit was reported to hold a large corporate data estate including emails, call recordings, and data from systems such as Teams, Oracle, and SAP.

The Register reported that Google paid $10 million for data including more than 100 million emails and 30 million recorded calls. Ars Technica also reported a large sale of Spirit employee data to Google.

Communications retained as assets after a collapse

The report describes internal emails and call recordings becoming assets for sale. Multiple saved news records cover the topic, but the transaction and AI use have not been independently checked against primary evidence.
