New Android malware can reportedly exfiltrate data through nearby infected devices
This report is unverified. A new Android malware called Manic reportedly has a fallback exfiltration mechanism that uses nearby infected devices.

Nearby infected devices as a fallback exit
BleepingComputer reported that the malware targets users in multiple European countries and can route data through nearby infected devices.
The saved report does not explain what happened when ordinary exfiltration routes failed in earlier malware.
Manic reportedly adds a fallback path through nearby compromised devices.
If the report is accurate, the exfiltration route extends beyond a single infected phone. Routing through nearby compromised devices is the feature attributed to Manic.
