According to the report, IDScan said it learned around September 1 that certain data may have been accessed without authorization. The company said a third party may have accessed or copied customer information in IDScan.net cloud accounts. The reported information can include full names and driver’s-license or other government-issued ID numbers. Reports had previously linked IDScan to a database containing more than 153 million driver’s-license scans.

Before the disclosure described in the report, IDScan had not publicly acknowledged the incident.

IDScan has reportedly disclosed that an unauthorized party may have accessed or copied customer information held in accounts on its cloud platform, following reports that linked the company to a database of more than 153 million driver’s-license scans.

The reported change connects a public disclosure of possible cloud-account data access with earlier reports of a database containing a large volume of identity-document scans. IDScan says its investigation is ongoing.
