Dataset claimed to expose members of FBI hacking unit

Three ROU references among about 5,000 personnel records

404 Media reported that data allegedly taken in a compromise associated with FBIJobs.gov included personal information and job or team labels for about 5,000 alleged FBI officials. Three entries reportedly referenced the FBI's Remote Operations Unit (ROU), a secretive unit associated with hacking tools. The reported ROU-related entries included addresses, phone numbers and, in some cases, spouses' names and phone numbers.

Public information about the FBI's Remote Operations Unit, including who belongs to it, was limited.

A dataset provided by ShinyHunters is reported to contain entries that identify three people connected to the Remote Operations Unit, alongside personal details such as addresses and phone numbers. The claim has not been independently verified.

The reported records could reveal the identities and personal details of people assigned to a unit whose operations, tools and membership have received little public disclosure. The FBI has acknowledged a criminal group's claim and said it is investigating, but has not confirmed the alleged compromise or where it occurred.
