Six AI companies reportedly join voluntary White House safety accord
Six major AI companies reportedly joined a voluntary White House safety accord. A separate reported executive order calls for federal agencies to replace “AI” with “SI” in official material.

Four proposed layers of oversight through the board
According to the published account, Meta, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, and XAI signed the “White House Accord on Superintelligence,” subtitled “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities.” The document calls for companies training and deploying frontier models to use controls and monitoring covering areas including cybersecurity, biosecurity, and chemical threats; assign an internal team; engage an independent external auditor or evaluator; and designate an independent board committee. The account also says President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications and documents.
The account does not establish a comparable previous federal AI-safety regime. It says the executive order changes federal usage from “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” to “Super Intelligence” and “SI.”
No audit frequency specified; a sixty-day terminology task
The reported accord sets out four layers of internal controls, internal oversight, external assessment, and board-level oversight for participating companies, but does not define “robust” controls or set audit and evaluation frequencies. Separately, the reported executive order directs federal agencies to adopt new terminology and calls for a definition of SI within 60 days.
The reported commitment combines company-led safety processes with no stated binding enforcement mechanism or specified audit schedule. Its accompanying terminology order would also alter the language used across US federal communications, despite the account saying that a definition of SI has yet to be developed.
